Ready for School??

**What can you do to help get your sensory kiddo ready for the school year to come?**

Here are some recommendations and suggestions that you can start before your kiddo returns to either in person schooling or on line this Fall

  • Keep as calm as you can! Kids feed off of our reactions, our body language and know when we are anxious or overwhelmed. Listen to calming music. Yoga! Breathing techniques! Find ways to take care of yourself as it will help your kiddo in the long run.

  • Get on a structured sleep, eating and exercise routine regardless of you staying at home or going back to school. Kids thrive on routine and are more prepared with knowing what is coming next. Start it sooner than later!

  • Transitions can be tough; whether going back to school or getting from one thing to the next in the morning. Here are some helpful suggestions on how to make it as smooth as possible. (Handout from theinspiredtreehouse.com)

  • Yes they will most likely be wearing masks during the day so make it fun! Superheroes! Doctors! Dress up stuffed animals or dolls! Be creative!

  • Reach out to others if you are stressed or need a break. The unknown of what school will look like is hard and overwhelming. You are not alone! It is okay to take your own time out!

Stay safe and healthy out there!
